5 Years And Counting…

Today is my 5 year work anniversary! It feels like I just started flying yesterday but it has been a 5 year journey. I have learned some new lessons along the way and realized some things will never change.

My favorite pilot. Who needs Pilot Pete?

Something new I’ve learned is that it’s not so bad dating someone in the aviation industry. I told myself for a long time that I would never date a pilot but here I am about to celebrate my one year anniversary with my pilot boyfriend. Dating him has been both refreshing and surprisingly easy. We both understand the lifestyle and understand if one of us is gone for days at a time. It’s also nice to not have to spell out cities but use city codes (Minneapolis vs MSP).

There will always be those passengers that complete gross you out. You would think that people would have common sense when it comes to personal hygiene and cleanliness but no way. There is always that person who goes to the lavatory barefoot. Ewww! There is always that parent who tries to hand you a used, dirty diaper while you are doing your beverage service. Yeah….. nope! And of course, there will always be that person who will couch and sneeze without covering their nose/mouth and let their germs just get all over everything around them. So gross!

There will always be those passengers that make you go, “Huh?” I am constantly surprised by the amount of stupid that exists in our world today. There will always be those people who try to “fit a square peg into a round hole” when it comes to baggage in

the overhead bin. Almost every flight will have that passenger who finds numbers and letters extremely difficult. Each flight will also have that passenger who doesn’t know how to operate a lavatory door. It makes me giggle on the inside (sometimes out loud) and brings some entertainment to my day. I always say, “The day I don’t find any of this funny, I need to quit.”

It has been a great five years and I can’t wait to see what I will learn in the next five years! Cheers to the future!
